Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July everyone!

Last year, when Oliver was 4 weeks old, we took him to “see” the fireworks.  Well, actually, we took him to a bank parking lot 1/2 a mile away and he sort of randomly watched “stuff” for 20 minutes and then we went home.

This year we decided to celebrate at home.  We started out with a nice dinner of artichoke heart salad and crab legs.  The little one loved them both!  He will eat pretty much anything you put in front of him.  Then we headed outside with our prepackaged bundle of fun from Wal-Mart and a lighter.

Daddy did the lighting while I tried to keep the baby from eating the sparklers.

Ooooooo, aaaahhhhh…  if you squint your eyes you can pretend that you are seeing really big fireworks from really far away.

The little one just sat there with his mouth open the whole time.  He would grunt when we were between fireworks.

We ended with the “flaming poo” as I like to call it.  I think they are called flaming snakes or something.  They start out looking like tootsie rolls and as they burn they bubble and grow.  No sparkles, just flaming poo.

Up way past his bedtime, the little one had a quick bath and is now passed out for the night.  A good 4th of July all around!
