About

Hi.  My name is Salee and in March of 2010 I quit a perfectly good job to become a domestic goddess.

This is why I quit:

Meet my beautiful children, Oliver and his sister, Evelyn.

Meet my dear husband, Barry.  He is the love of my life.  We met through Match.com when I lived in Washington, DC.  It was the best $19.99 I have ever spent.

All my life I have wanted to be a mommy.  Seriously, I have documented proof in the form of a moth-eaten and mildew stained memory book that my dad patiently filled out every year since I was 5.  “What do you want to be when you grow up?  A mommy, an artist, and a teacher.”

So now that I have a family that I love and cherish – what the heck was I doing working a 9-5?  Throwing aside the illusion that we needed money more than we needed a stable home life, home cooked meals, and time to enjoy each other, I up and quit.

The thought of living on a single income makes my stomach churn thinking about all the “what ifs” out there.  Not one to give up easily, I am taking the bull by the horns.  In lieu of earning the big green bucks, I am going to save the big green bucks.  I am the resource queen!  If anybody can find two pennies to rub together in this world, it will be me.

In searching for penny-pinching ideas and cost saving tips I am always left with the questions, “But does it work?”  “Is it sustainable?”  “Is it worth my time?”  Ask anyone who knows me, I must find the answers to these deep and probing questions.  I will not be able to sleep at night until I know if that homemade laundry soap will dissolve my husband’s underwear leaving behind a frazzled rubber waistband or if vinegar really does kill a spider more effectively than 12 canisters of Raid.

Join us as we figure out how to live “centsibly”.  Give me tips and tricks to try – I’ll do anything, well almost anything, to save some bucks and earn the right to stay home and take care of my little one.

Leave comments (be nice or at least constructive and save my husband hours of putting up with my drama) or shoot me an email:  salee (at) 2pennies2rub (dot) com.
